Indie Around the Web V

It’s no surprise to those of who are writers that we have formed this tight little well-knit-together community of writers who are probably not going to read each other’s books.  (I would honestly love it if we would all support each other that way, but I’m guessing other writers don’t feel that way, as I’m not seeing a lot of other people saying they wish this would happen.)

Anyway, given the current prospects, I’ve been doing some research and hope to find ways to grow my readership, without discarding my lovely blog readership of fellow writers of course :-).

Anyway, hope you find this as informative as I did!

Ways to Find Readers

It is interesting that writers connect so much, and maybe it’s because they spend so much of their time writing, they forget reading? 😀

I love to read the books of authors who I connect with, in fact that is all I’m reading at the moment. Unfortunately, I am very slow reader!

I tend to go back and forth between my writing and reading. I’ve also learned to use reading as a tool for my writer’s block. When I get stuck, I read something I think (or know) will inspire the writing to return. I’m going to start using the writing of fellow Indie authors to fill that bill as well :-).

I admit that I have a list of fellow indie author books that I need to read. I was pretty good at it when I started too. The thing that happened is that I found I was spending most of my time reading the works of other people instead of writing my books. It’s a tough balancing act even when you don’t add in the rest of life. Be nice to get a lengthy vacation from everything to catch up, but I think I’d need a year off to do that.

Well, I’m glad to hear you have a list of fellow authors to read! That gives me a little hope :-). It definitely is a balancing act. A vacation to just read and write would be phenomenal!

I hate to admit that I probably wouldn’t know what to do with that kind of vacation. It’d be halfway over before I realized it was really happening. 🙂
