As you may know by this time, we don’t do Christmas presents in our family. (If you missed my guest post about it on Linda’s Blog, check it out for a little background.)
However, we do exchange gifts for New Year’s and call it “New Gifts for the New Year.” In doing so, we limit our children’s gifts from us (parents) to something to wear, something to read, something they want, something they need. (From other relatives, we ask that gifts be kept to books or cash for their college fund, or something equally practical.) The main goal is to protect our kids to some extent from the overwhelming materialism that is rampant in society today. One of these years, every single one of my kids’ gifts from us will be a book (I swear, I will find some way to make a book into something to wear! Ooooooh, maybe a book about sewing or knitting! HA!).
Anyway, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year by carrying our family tradition over here with the opportunity to win a “New Book for the New Year”!
For one week, I will hold a Goodreads Giveaway for BOTH Lies That Bind novels – 3 copies of each! The giveaways will begin on Wednesday and will go through next Wednesday 1/7/15.
Links to both giveaways coming soon!
