Every year, it seems November creeps up on me more quickly than the year before, and this year is no exception.
November is a big deal, because although I do write during the majority of the rest of the year, November is traditionally the start of the next big novel. This year, I’m beginning the first book in my upcoming series, which if you may recall, is in a new genre for me – fantasy! It’s been a busy few months plotting and planning, but with each piece that comes together in the puzzle, I’m getting more and more excited about this project.
Reminded by one of my best friends (thanks, Becks!), I set up my novel in the NaNoWriMo website today – something I’ve usually completed the first week of October! I hope this isn’t a bad sign of how my November is going to go.
I also usually have a NaNo survival kit all ready to go. This year it comprises mostly coffee and protein bars, plus delicious Bai water, as well as the ridiculous amounts of vitamins and supplements that have become a part of my life over the past ten months. I’m also sure to have Pitch Perfect 1 & 2 on repeat in the Blu-Ray player, at least when I’m not playing my novel soundtrack – which I haven’t even begun working on yet! I find that my favorite artsy and quirky movies provide just the right amount of creative fodder for my writing process.
I think my most valuable NaNo asset this year is going to be my fellow writer, aforementioned BFF, Rebekah Strong. We already have plans to be each other’s dartboards and brainstorming buddies. The only thing that would make it better would be if we were next door neighbors.
Do you NaNo? If so, I’d love to add you as a writing buddy! See you there!
