I have been in contact with my local public library, and they are going to set up a book signing with me for later in the summer!
I’m pretty excited about it, though I’m keeping my hopes fairly low and not expecting too much. However, I do know quite a number of people in the area, as I grew up here (left for several years and then returned a couple of years ago), so I am somewhat hopeful that people who know me will show up.
I am also going to contact the library in the town where I grew up – a much smaller town (where even more people know me). Though it sounds counterintuitive, I actually expect more from a signing at the smaller library. Time will tell, however. The reason I haven’t contacted the smaller library yet is because I am going to go in personally to talk with the librarian; whereas I have so far been communicating with the other librarian via email.
As you can imagine with this being my first signing, I have been doing quite a bit of research on book signings, how to prepare, what to bring, what to expect, dos and don’ts, et cetera. Some of the best resources I have found will show up soon in a separate post.
In the meantime, if anyone has any tips or advice they wish to share, by all means, DO!
